I especially love pumpkin pie with "dilly whip" (that's what my family calls Cool Whip or whip cream). You see, as much as we love pumpkin pie, the pumpkin pie just serves as a medium for eating a ton of "dilly whip." We eat mounds of it on Thanksgiving. I should just buy everyone their own container of Cool Whip and put that in front of them on Thanksgiving. Hmmmm. Maybe?
Another special treat we have is "cranberry sauce shaped like a can." It's a gourmet thing at our house. Maybe I should make a tutorial on this so you can share the fun!
Our bird is thawing... actually, we're going to have one in the oven and one on the grill outside. Yummy!
What special things do you have for Thanksgiving?

after you left a comment on my blog I thought I should check back in with you and see what you are up to -- it sounds like we do some of the same stuff for turkey day! I have the same recipe for cranberry sauce - sounds like it is shaped the same too :) as for the pumpkin pie - a little pie with a lot of cool whip for us too - at least I picked up the fat free container this year :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great turkey day - this year it is just hubby and I and I got a large turkey breast instead of a whole turkey, I'm sure it will smell the same - just won't take as long to roast!

Thanksgiving in Canada has long passed, did it at the cottage and had the whole feast too! I just love the smell of turkey and dressing in the oven.
ReplyDeleteOne year one of the kids put the can of cool whip in his mouth and he ended up looking like something from the deep, foaming like crazy. My brother in law did the same thing with shaving cream...crazy guy.
I make the real cranberry sauce, you know it's so much better on the sandwiches the next day.
We always have to have Green jello with pears and cream cheese. My husband and kids would revolt otherwise. Have a happy Thanksgiving Day!
ReplyDeleteIt just wouldn't be Thanksgiving without the can-shaped cranberries *s*
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving Caron :-D As you probably know we don't have Thanksgiving in the UK. But I hope you are having a wonderful day.
