The Quilting Gene

I was adopted when I was four months old. Recently, I was contacted by a the brother of my biological father, and have been blessed to learn about my family history on that side of the family. Did you know there is a quilting gene? The photo here is of a quilt made by my paternal grandmother. I have purposefully cropped the photo to protect the identity of the woman in the photo.

This is such a soft pastel quilt top! I love it!
The quilt to the right was also made by my paternal grandmother. Love the colors!
It would have been nice to have met the maker of these quilts and to sit and stitch with her. But I really DO consider myself blessed to know as much as I do... and hope to learn more!

  1. Caron how cool is that to learn that your biological grandma quilted too. I have always thought some artistic talent is inherited. It must have been nice to learn some of your family history, if for no other reason than to get medical information.

  3. Hi Caron!

I would say, YES, there are "Quilting Genes"!!!

Both my paternal and maternal grandmothers were quilters! *grin*

It seemed to have skipped a generation as my Mom has, nor ever had any desire, whatsoever, to start quiling... her sister (my Aunt) is the only other quilter, in my Aunts and in my cousins... I'm the only fanatic! *grin*

    Tks for sharing, Caron...
