A Washed Quilt = So Cuddly!

Emma.closeup

After a quilt has been quilted and the binding put into place, I think it just BEGS to be tossed into the washer and dryer, don't you?

There is nothing like a good wash and dry to add in those adorable puckers and softness that makes a quilt feel right.

This little crib quilt is for a baby girl and was designed to match her nursery. The big blocks have free-hand meandering quilted in place to look like "little girl scribbled flowers."  Then over the rest of the quilt, a meandering stitch with the same flowers (only smaller), squiggles and little leaves helps fill it in and add those precious puckers.EmmasQuilt3

What a great place to play and explore?!?

  1. Hi Caron... I agree with you that a quilt should bw washed and dryed after it is finished... I do the same with the quilts that I make... I just love the baby quilt.... Jean :)

  2. I'm with Jean; I love the look of washed and dried quilts. I think it really improves them. All the quilts that my quilting group, the Blanketeers, make MUST be machine washed and dried before we donate them. It was a Project Linus requirement that we have internalized so much we don't even think about it anymore. After all, who wants to give away a quilt that might be damaged by normal laundering? Your quilt is just lovely! She's a lucky little girl to be getting such a pretty quilt. 8)

    All the best,

  3. Caron - the quilt is adorable - I love the colors and the quilting is perfect for it. I also wash all of my quilts - sometimes before I bind them (I always have stay stitching around the edges) and again after they are bound if the kitties have been on and under them during the binding process.

  4. beautiful quilt - I agree a quilt just doesn't look right until it is soft and washed, love that antique look.
