Spools quilt – Klosjes

Today’s the day… I’ve been wanting to start on a hand-piecing project and make a medium-sized spools quilt.  I’ve looked at a variety of different patterns:

spools1 spools2spools3

     spools4

Spools 10

spools7 spools6spools5

So I drafted mine out…

klosjes

And made my templates… and I’m ready to go.

FYI:  I made my templates exactly the way you see here.  I trace around the templates and add the seam allowance when I cut the fabric out.

The sewing began!

Once you start sewing on these, they go together very quickly and are a lot of fun.   Each one has a different light background.

Stay tuned!

  1. how fun -- but then you know me - I love hand piecing it can be so relaxing and it is fun to do things the old fashioned way - everyone always seems to be in such a hurry.

I liked the block with the stripe fabric looking like thread. I wonder if you can put the stripes so they are on the diagonal to look like cross wound thread.

I am still working on my hand pieced DEAR JANE quilt... I figure I will get it done in a hundred years.
